Letters/Mail

All individuals may contact Garfield County inmates by mail. All mail must be sent through the U.S. Postal Service; hand‑delivered mail will not be accepted. Incoming non‑privileged mail will be opened, scanned, and converted into digital form. The digital image will be reviewed for safety, security, and criminal‑activity concerns and, if approved, made available to the inmate on the provided tablet. Mail that presents a safety or security concern, contains prohibited content, will be rejected. To ensure proper receipt and delivery, all mail must be addressed as follows:

Attorney Inmate Mail

All mail containing attorney‑client privileged communications must be clearly marked as ‘Privileged Mail’ and include the attorney’s name and professional return address in the upper‑left corner. Privileged Mail may only contain professional/privileged correspondence to the inmate. Prohibited enclosures such as greeting cards, paperclips, staples, Post‑it notes, tape, whiteout/correction tape, or any non‑paper item may be removed for safety and security. Removal of prohibited items shall not delay or interfere with delivery of the legal communication. Digital discovery must be mailed to the ‘Digital Discovery’ address listed below. If you are unsure whether an item will be accepted, please contact the facility before mailing.

Telephone Calls

Inmates cannot receive incoming telephone calls. Pre-paid/Collect call telephones for outgoing local, long distance and international calls are available in each housing unit. Inmates may purchase phone time for use while housed in our facility. (See Inmate Accounts page) All inmate phone calls are subject to monitoring and recording.
