Sex Offender Registration

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office registers convicted sexual offenders who reside in the county, in accordance with state law. Sex offenders are required to register quarterly, or annually, depending on the crime for which they convicted.

A list of sexual offenders who are registered with the Sheriff’s Office can be obtained by going to the Sheriff’s Office, Records Section and presenting proper identification. Fees apply.

The list changes on a daily basis, as new offenders register and registered offenders move out of the area. Photographs, as well as a brief description of the convictions requiring registration, are also available for viewing.

All convicted sex offenders living in Garfield County must register within five business days after becoming a resident.

Call (970) 945-0453, ext 1066 to schedule an appointment.

The state sex offender registry includes only those persons who have been convicted of certain acts of unlawful sexual behavior since July 1, 1991, and who are in compliance with the sex offender registry as a safeguard against perpetrators of sexual assault on their communities. The crime for which a person is convicted may not accurately reflect the level of risk.

Offenders who are not incompliance may be listed on the Colorado Bureau of Investigations website. You can access this website by logging on to http://sor.state.co.us/ or you can link to it from the State of Colorado government page.
