GARFIELD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE POLICY / PROCEDURE DETENTIONS SUBJECT: JAIL TOURS EFFECTIVE DATE: January 01, 2004 POLICY: It is the policy of the Garfield County Jail to provide tours to public organizations and certain individuals for educational purposes while maintaining facility security. PURPOSE: To provide visitors with a better understanding of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility while maintaining a safe and secure environment for those visitors and the detention center. METHOD: The program coordinator will schedule jail tours Monday through Friday and be responsible to notify all security staff of the tour. Central control will be notified of the tour and the number of people attending. Jail tours will be limited to the central control room unless otherwise authorized by the Jail Commander, Undersheriff or Sheriff. Tours may be canceled at any time pending a facility emergency.
