Jail Visitation Rules - Detention Center

1. Appointments to visit inmates must be made in advance by the inmate currently housed in the Garfield County Detention Center. Appointments are made at half hour increments: 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 and 8:30 pm. It is also the responsibility of the inmate to inform the individual(s) he or she has scheduled for a visit.

2. Visitation shall be held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Dates and/or hours are subject to change with a 24-hour notice.

3. Inmate visits are limited to 20 minutes. Inmates are allowed three visits per week. Two people are permitted at the visitation booth at any one time; a baby in arms does not count; a walking child does.

4. All visitors are required to sign in and present a photograph identification card.

5. Persons under 18 years of age are not allowed to visit inmates unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must prove guardianship, show proper identification and sign in.

6. Visitors who fail to attend the visit may have visitation privileges suspended after two such occurrences. Telephone cancellations do not count as a no-show. Anyone who is more than 10 minutes late for an appointment may have the visit cancelled.

7. No food or beverages are permitted in the visitation waiting room, or visiting booth areas, No bulky items, such as suitcases or boxes, are allowed in the visiting areas. Lockers are available for 25 cents for such items or other articles a visitor may choose to secure. All items are subject to search at all times. The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center or Staff personnel will not be responsible for personal property of visitors.

8. Visitors will not be allowed to leave notes or letters for an inmate with the Visitation Officer or Staff. All correspondence must be sent through the regular mail system.
